The Twizzy – Game 34

~ You love them. You’ve read their books or articles. You follow them on Twitter. But how well do you know them and their wicked sense of humor? Play The Twizzy and find out. ~

Happy Monday and welcome back to another game of The Twizzy! Thank you for all your responses. I’m glad you’re all enjoying it so much.

Are you ready for Game 34? Remember, you’re allowed 1 guess per day.

I’ll give a recap for those of you who haven’t played yet:

In my quest to keep you all entertained, I thought up a quiz. But not just any quiz. That would be boring. This is a quiz where Twitter Stars answer 30 questions. As you’ll see, these aren’t your run-of-the-mill questions. That, too, would be boring. As far as I’m concerned, this is the first time something of this scope has been done on Twitter. If it isn’t, I’m sure someone will let me know (but I won’t believe them).

Originally it was just to be the published authors I interact with but this plan grew and grew. Everyone I asked said yes! So what you have here is a lovely mix of writers – from New York Times Bestselling authors to newly published ones. From sportswriters to freelance journalists. I didn’t stop there though. I asked literary agents and editors, and then it extended to all aspects of publishing – from business development to public relations. I’ve even been lucky enough to snag two British celebrities.

Below is the list of the participants with their Twitter bio and handles. While you go through, you may consider following them, and buying their books or newspapers. These people are awesome, truly. As busy as they are, they took time out to play “The Twizzy” and they answered the questions with such flair that I was laughing each time a new email came in.

Once you’ve gone through the list, take a look at the question and answer session below. You will laugh. The questions will be the same every Monday. Your job is to figure out who from the list answered the questions that week. Include your guess in the comments section here on my blog. I will not post your comments until the winner has been announced. This is because I want you to guess on your own. If by Thursday there is still no correct answer, I’ll give 1 hint. The first correct answer wins a prize. Yes, a prize. They consist of: Seven Souls A Leaping co-written and donated by Kellyann Zuzulo (while supplies last), macaroons or starry, starry nights from gesine.com, $15 Barnes & Noble gift cards (with 1 donated by the wonderful Kellyann Zuzulo), or a surprise FANTASTIC hardcover book from my grab bag of goodies from Alyssa Smith. You will have until Friday to guess. Then I will reveal The Twizzy Star of the Week. If you’re not on Twitter, you can still play because you’ve likely read their books or articles, and, as the weeks go on, the list will narrow.

If you have any questions, Tweet me at www.Twitter.com/SunnySoCal and please use “#TheTwizzy” in your question.

Have fun and good luck!

~ Denise

The Twizzy – Game 34

1. How hard was it to break into your line of work? Do you enjoy it?

I caught a break in college when a friend of mine internet with my company. He helped me and a couple of friends get in the door, and I stayed!  I do enjoy my work, but I think I’m ready to move on, and the lifestyle isn’t always the easiest to live.

2. Have you any advice for people who would also like to do your line of work?

Prepare for crazy hours!

3. Are you known by any nicknames?

(***Note from Denise: This has been removed because it was a dead giveaway. Tough it out on your own, people. ***)

4. What song’s your tearjerker?

Well, songs on the radio probably wouldn’t do it, and it depends on my mood. However, I probably wouldn’t go putting the theme from the Deer Hunter on my music players if I was feeling blue.

5. Do you like capers?

Dom Capers, the former Panthers head coach? Sure – he’s done a great job with the Packers defense : )

6. Any food you must have?

Subs from the White House in Atlantic City. The best ever. I also miss the half smokes from Ben’s Chili Bowl deeply.

7. Pet?

No ownership here. I tend to prefer cats to dogs, but I can put up with the right pooch for sure.

8. How do you feel about the word “carbuncle”?

…I cannot comment on that because I do not know what it means (I could go look it up, obviously, but I’m playing by the rules. (***Note from Denise: +1 ***)

9. Favorite stroll?

Does a bachelor party count? If so, Vegas in Feb ’09 for one of those. Non-bachelor party would be a trip to Chicago later in ’09 to see games at Wrigley Field and The Cell.

10. Most embarrassing memory?

Whatever it is…it probably involved doing something in public amidst co-workers that I probably should have held back on. And I’ve got a few options, believe me.

11. Biggest pet peeve?

Repetition. Hearing the same thing or being asked to do the same thing OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER…

12. Who would you like to meet (in any time period)?

Mark Cuban. And I’d ask him about his time on Shark Tank.

13. Who bugs the crap out of you?

Shia Labouf. Sean Avery. Insert ‘Real Housewife’ here.

14. Favorite book?

I read alot of non-fiction sports, so I will go with ‘Fish Sticks: The Fall and Rise of the New York Islanders,’ which chronicled their resurgance in 2001-02…which was not sustained, unfortunately.

15. Do songs by Nickelback make you want to stuff hot pokers in your ears?

Confession – no. I actually like some of their hits. I enjoy driving to ‘If Everyone Cared,’ ‘Into The Night,’ and the one asking ‘if today was your last day.’ I don’t need ‘How You Remind Me’ or the photograph one.

16. Favorite movie?

Aliens.

17. Is marmite the singular form of marmosets? More importantly, does marmite make you want to vomit?

…this question might be slightly over my head.

18. Favorite quote?

There are too many to commit to long term, but at the moment I will go with: “Fantasy is the new reality.”

19. Favorite swear word?

Fuckstick… can I count that as one even though I added the stick part? I do try to keep it clean though!

20. How do you feel about capybaras?

…what are they?

21. Guilty pleasure?

I watch some odd reality television shows in addition to my normal slate of programming – I’ll go with what I’m watching right now, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover on Bravo.

22. Favorite character?

The late Sgt. James Doakes from ‘Dexter’ on Showtime

23. Do people who say “sammich” make you want to kick them in the crotch?

Not at all. I’m guilty of it too, especially when I’m tired and slurring speech.

24. Which character would win this smackdown: Peter Venkman, Jack Donaghy, Stay Puft, Dwight Shrute, George Costanza, Basil Fawlty, Mortimer Brewster, Hyacinth Bucket, Mr. Whipple, or the Maytag Repairman?

Stay Puft. The Ghostbusters as a crew could barely handle him, and I only see one in the mix there. Though I confess I don’t know everyone you laid out. (***Note from Denise: +1 ***)

25. Phobias?

Dying. If I knew what was going to happen to me (us) next, I’d be fine with it. But I am not a fan of uncertainty. Running out of money is a close second.

26. How do feel about cheese? Be specific.

I love cheese. I probably have American the least though – I always go with swiss on my burgers, and I could swim in bleu cheese dressing. I dunk wings, pizza in it…I’m a fan.

27. Which 1980’s comedy film is this from: “Where’s the rest of this moose?”

I don’t know : (

28. Foods you refuse to eat?

None. I am very open minded. But it took me awhile to try ox tails, which are terrific by the way.

29. Where do you stand on Justin Bieber?

The young man is clearly talented. And a cash cow.

*Bonus*

Finish this quote from a 1980’s comedy: “Generally you don’t see that kind of behavior in _______________.”

I don’t know the quote. Hit me with something from A Clockwork Orange, Wedding Crashers, Finding Nemo, Swingers, Oceans 11, etc… and we’re in business : )
